This position is located in the Network Services Section, Patron and Network Engagement Division, National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS), Library Collections and Services Group. The position description number for this position is 467473. The salary range indicated reflects the locality pay adjustments for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area. The incumbent of this position will work a flexitime work schedule.
What You'll Do
- →The position serves as a Management Analyst and patron information systems (PIMMS) database Coordinator.
- →The position is located in the Patron and Network Engagement Division (PNED), National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS), Library Collections and Services Group (LCSG), and reports to the Head of the Network Services Section (NSS).
- →The Management Analyst serves as a liaison between NLS and the Network for systems related operations, including PIMMS, NLDB, ILL/XESS, and WebReads.
- →Coordinates the operations of collecting, compiling, and publishing statistical information gathered from network libraries on readership and circulation and on production of books, magazines, machines, and equipment, and from the comprehensive PIMMS database.
- →The incumbent monitors the operations and functions of PIMMS, NLDB, ILL/XESS, RECALL which consists of complex profiles of organizations and patrons utilizing the NLS program through cooperating network libraries.
- →The individual is responsible for providing guidance to NLS staff and network libraries on the functions and complexities of library systems.
- →The incumbent exercises effective personal liaison services and written communication.
- →Incumbent researches and answers network library and patron inquiries, needs, or problems.
- →Serves as primary contact for library information systems database issues or problems.
- →Uses knowledge of agency program goals and objectives, the sequence and timing of key programs events and milestones and methods of evaluating the worth of program accomplishments to collect materials relating to agency statistics.
- →Uses a mastery of qualitative and quantitative methods for assessment and improvement of complex management process and systems.
- →Develops, coordinates, and implements performance measures to evaluate productivity programs for a major organizational segment of the NLS program.
- →Carries out special project assignments that include, but not limited to, research and projections of patron or library statistics, fiscal year comparison of library data, financial summaries, surveys, analysis of patron demographics, and other assignments as assigned.
- →Manages accounts providing access to NLS systems in order to maintain security of NLS systems through restricted, authorized, and authenticated access at appropriate levels.
