About the Role
These WG-4749-05 Maintenance Worker positions will be located at Zion National Park in Springdale, UT. Government / Park housing may be available. These are permanent, full-time, Career Seasonal appointments. See "Duties" section below for more information about Career Seasonal appointments. What You'll Do
- →These WG-4749-05 Maintenance Worker positions are Career-Seasonal appointments which are permanent positions that include the same benefits as Career (year-round) appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis.
- →You can expect to be in a non-pay status for a maximum of one pay period (2 weeks) each year, scheduled some time between early January to late January.
- →The selectees will perform routine work involved in the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, equipment, and related utilities, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices associated with occupations such as: custodial, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, painting, and other related trades.
- →Daily custodial duties are a required part of this position and take priority over other assigned duties.
- →Provides routine maintenance on park facilities including minor carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work.
- →Assist higher graded maintenance employees in the performance of maintenance tasks.
- →Safely and effectively, uses hand power tools required for the job and has the ability to maintain these tools properly.
- →Physical Effort: Works from ladders, scaffolds and platforms and where surfaces to be coated, or the parts of systems worked on are hard to reach that require incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- →Frequently lifts, carries and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 40 pounds.
- →Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside where dirt, spray, and fumes are present.
- →Also required to work in inclement weather and/or wear protective equipment and clothing that are sometimes heavy and uncomfortable.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship required.
- ✓Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- ✓Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- ✓DIRECT DEPOSIT: Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- ✓DRIVER'S LICENSE: You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.
- ✓You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record.
- ✓You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
- ✓UNIFORM: You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
- ✓A uniform allowance will be provided.
- ✓WORK SCHEDULE: You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, & overtime.
- ✓PROBATIONARY PERIOD: As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period.
