About the Role
This position is a Maintenance Worker, WG- 4749-8 working in Los Alamos, New Mexico for the IM-1539-BAND.
What You'll Do
- →As a Maintenance Worker your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: Performing recurring building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties and to assist journeymen and other higher-graded workers.
- →Replacing light switches and household light fixtures and changing light bulbs.
- →Mixing masonry cement, sand and water, cinder blocks and flagstone.
- →Performing concrete and plaster touch up around existing historic and other masonry structures.
- →Operating and performing minor maintenance on vehicles such as ten-wheel dump truck, front end loader, bulldozer, and hot oil distributer.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship required.
- ✓Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- ✓Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- ✓You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 5 nights per month.
- ✓Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- ✓Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service); with few exceptions as outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).
- ✓Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal civilian employees applying for reinstatement who have had a break in service of less than one year, as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointments.
- ✓Time-in-grade does not apply to new excepted service appointments.
- ✓Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- ✓This position requires the incumbent to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of their official duties.
- ✓Selectee must hold and maintain a valid state driver's license throughout their employment in this position.
- ✓You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
- ✓Respirator fit test required Additional Requirements located under qualifications There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.
