Lead Police Officer

About the Role
In this position you will work as a member of the Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center (MWEOC), Police Department. MWEOC is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, approximately 60 miles west of Washington, DC. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience leading law enforcement and security operations and assigning Police Officers various work assignments for posts, patrols and services.
What You'll Do
- →All MWEOC staff have emergency assignments and are considered deployed in place.
- →Exercises and activations are planned and unplanned, and may require long hours, nights, weekends and holidays.
- →All MWEOC employees are: (1) required to use a government-issued electronic device (to include cellular phones); (2) subject to recall during emergency situations; and (3) required to perform work in locations both above and below ground.
- →What will I do in this position if hired?
- →In this position, you will serve as a Lead Police Officer, responsible for maintaining law and order and protecting life, property and the civil rights of individuals as well as for protecting Government property and national security information from acts of sabotage, espionage, terrorism, trespass, theft, fire and accidental and/or willful damage and destruction.
- →Typical assignments include: Communicating team assignments, projects and distributing workload and tasks for completion of deadlines.
- →Carrying firearms and making arrests in order for detecting and investigating a wide variety of incidents for enforcement of Federal, State, local laws, rules, regulations and procedures.
- →Coordinating and completing investigations of all crimes, both felony and misdemeanor, which cannot be resolved through the initial efforts of the reporting officer and preliminary investigation.
- →Leading officers in patrolling facility grounds and structures to prevent and detect theft, damage, or unauthorized entry.
- →Assisting the incident commander with law enforcement response to all emergency situations or incidents.
