About the Role

This position is part of the Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response's Energy Threat Analysis Center (ETAC). The ETAC partners with experts across DOE and the energy sector to identify, analyze, and mitigate cyber threats to critical infrastructure. As an IT Cybersecurity Specialist, you will provide cybersecurity guidance to DOE leadership and federal and sector stakeholders to strengthen energy security and resilience.

  • Veterans shape the future of energy At the GS-14 level as an IT Cybersecurity Specialist (CYBERMGT), you will: Provide expert independent technical advice, guidance, and recommendations on IT cybersecurity systems and operations to DOE senior leaders and other federal agencies.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and sustainment of long and short-term cybersecurity project plans, ensuring alignment with overall cybersecurity requirements and management processes.
  • Conduct reviews and analyses of cybersecurity hardware, software, communication systems, and networks, developing and applying standards and protocols for effective integration and implementation.
  • Interpret and implement IT cybersecurity regulations and standards, analyzing DOE information systems to maintain compliance with government and commercial cybersecurity standards.
  • Evaluate new and innovative approaches to solve complex cybersecurity problems, including assessing advancing technologies and their impact on DOE networks and systems.
  • Support the implementation and modification of cybersecurity systems, and manage the acquisition and allocation of resources to achieve mission goals and strategic objectives.
