About the Position: Serve as the principal technical advisor and SME for a transportation systems IT infrastructure. Coordinate across agencies to research, plan, and develop communication and automation systems. Core duties include system administration, designing software and system architectures, solving complex technical issues, ensuring Information Assurance (IA) and cybersecurity compliance, and consulting senior leadership on state-of-the-art IT operations and technologies.
What You'll Do
- →Performs system administration including installations, upgrades, and maintenance of server, storage, and network solutions across NIPRnet and SIPRnet environments to support transportation information infrastructure.
- →Designs complex software, hardware, and system architectures for systems, ensuring all components meet performance, reliability, and maintainability requirements for mission-critical operations.
- →Analyzes complex processes and unusual technical problems, providing expert consultation on system interrelationships and implementing state-of-the-art techniques to ensure integrity and security of organizational systems.
- →Ensures Information Assurance (IA) and cybersecurity compliance by performing risk analyses and implementing safeguards and countermeasures required by DoD policy to maintain system oversight and mission success.
- →Serves as a principal technical advisor to senior managers, providing expert recommendations on broad program operations, policy impacts, and revolutionary changes in research and development life-cycle support.
- →Develops and maintains comprehensive system documentation, including requirements specifications and technical orders, while ensuring strict software and documentation configuration control in accordance with established procedures.
- →Supports acquisition activities by developing Performance Work Statements (PWS), creating Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCE), and serving as a government representative for the oversight of contract activities.
- →Conducts research on emerging technologies to predict future automation needs and evaluates the feasibility of new systems to ensure alignment with long-term organizational goals and evolving mission parameters.
