Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Hydro System Controller Relief Scheduler. You can make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment. Duty Location: Sacramento, California
What You'll Do
- →The Relief Scheduler performs hydro system control operations using centralized control systems to monitor and remotely operate power generating and distribution systems.
- →Work efforts control power production and water releases from hydroelectric generating plants and numerous pumping plants within the Central Valley project (CVP).
- →Calculates water flows; directs necessary revisions to active-day power generation and pumping schedules and changes to future schedules.
- →Monitors and maintains plant system voltage, generation/reservoir levels, and water flows to assure water operations orders and constraints are met.
- →Initiates/revises automatic generation control settings for generators making necessary adjustments to keep regulating reservoirs within operating constraints.
- →Monitors primary and secondary communications circuits to all system plant facilities.
- →Monitors hourly reporting of water quality stations.
- →Reads water release charts; collects, records, and maintains a complete log and record of operations and operating data.
- →Prepares daily, monthly and annual reports that includes unit loads, hours of operation, scheduled and forced outages, fiscal and calendar year operations.
- →Prepares day-ahead and two-day ahead generation schedules for CVP generation and pumping.
- →Prepares hourly unit generation schedule forecasts to include accommodating required regulation, reserves, and available energy production using a variety of tools and models such as, market cost of energy curves, reservoir space models, and reserve verification models.
- →Provides emergency communications service.
- →Under Emergency, provide backup Operational support to CVP.
Requirements
- ✓You must be a U.S.
- ✓Citizen or U.S.
- ✓You must be suitable for federal employment, determined by a background investigation.
- ✓You must submit a resume and supporting documentation (see Required Documents).
- ✓You must maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times as the position requires operation of government vehicles on government and public roads.
- ✓You will be required to obtain a successful pre-employment physical examination by a licensed physician certifying your ability to perform the duties of this position.
- ✓A physical exam may not be required if a comparable agency approved examination was performed within the last 12 months.
- ✓The cost of the exam will be reimbursed by the agency.
- ✓May be required to work perform shift/irregular work schedule.
- ✓May be required to perform work involving confined space entry and working in confined quarters.
