This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

- →The candidate may serve as the primary physician for patients with active cancer or hematologic disease.Supervision of inpatient as well as outpatient chemotherapy and infusion procedures.
- →Perform bone marrow aspirates and biopsies and participate in oncology conferences.
- →Supervise hematology/oncology fellows from Kansas University Medical Center.
- →The Kansas City Oncology Department has an active clinical trials program.
- →Academic opportunities include:Serving as principal investigator of clinical trials through SWOG, the GU-NPOP program, and drug company sponsored clinical trials.
- →Oversight of regulatory requirements and compliances with IRB regulation in human research.
- →The position can include a major role in the clinical research, administrative, and educational programs of the Hematology/Oncology Section for interested candidates.
- →Work Schedule: Part-Time, Monday-Friday, 24 hours a week.
- →This position has the potential to be full time and may be discussed during interview or upon selection.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.

- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
