This position serves as a Project Engineer at an assigned Community Based Outpatient Clinic. This position performs project planning, produces designs, manages designs, manages construction, and provides construction administration for Minor Construction Projects, Non-Recurring Maintenance (NRM) Projects, Station Level Projects, and Leases, including all areas and aspects (architectural, electrical, life safety, mechanical, civil, structural, etc.)
What You'll Do
- →Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Major duties may include (but are not limited to): Develops skillsets encompassing a wide range of engineering fields including, but not limited to identifying and defining assigned problems dealing with structures, mechanical, HVAC, sprinkler, fire and life safety, architectural, and electrical systems.
- →Gathers and applies knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and VA Acquisition Regulations (V AAR), as well as VA mandated set-aside requirements to effectively provide procurement support to the Contracting Officer.
- →Participates in the development of the independent government estimate (IGE) and negotiations with A/Es to develop professional engineer design products.
- →Develops a knowledge of Infection Control and the requirements to be followed included in the Risk Assessments, their application in the health care environment, and methods necessary to retain separation of active construction from the healthcare environment.
- →Conducts investigations to obtain factual information pertaining to a variety of issues.
- →Explores background information (literature, reports, and discussions with others having specialized knowledge of the issue) including code reference checks (National Fire Protection Act, International Building Code), and multiple other related jurisdictional codes.
- →Assists with medical center construction projects and associated planning with respect to medical technologies and medical-related technologies.
- →Assists clinical staff and the Biomedical Engineering staff in the planning of construction of clinical spaces, specification development, and design reviews, sometimes entailing visits to other facilities to research current design trends for medical space.
- →Assists in monitoring and reporting on construction and utilities management program that allows the Veterans Health Administration to meet the requirements set by accrediting organizations such as T JC.
- →Assists by presenting details regarding the facility Construction Management Program to the accreditation bodies.
- →Shares responsibility in ensuring that information security issues are managed effectively for engineering databases and building automation systems.
- →All other duties as assigned.
- →Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
