About the Role

You will serve as a GENERAL ENGINEER in the Engineering and Planning Department (C200) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

What You'll Do

  • You will serve is a Ship Liaison Engineer and report directly to the Deputy Chief Engineer of Surface ships.
  • You will conduct engineering analysis, investigations, tests and/or assessments on board surface ships in order to identify areas for improvement and correct deficiencies.
  • You will provide technical and authoritative guidance on surface ship engineering best practices and principles.
  • You will develop, coordinate, and implement engineering guidelines, objectives, and training for surface ships.
  • You will prepare and disseminate plans and reports related to surface ship engineering functions and best practices.
  • You will read and interpret Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of the Navy (DON) engineering policies to ensure program compliance.

Requirements

  • Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
  • Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
  • OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

  • OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
  • Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
