About the Role

This vacancy is for a GS-0801-13, General Engineer located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, ASSET MANAGEMENT DIVISION in WASHINGTON, District of Columbia.

What You'll Do

  • You will serve as a General Engineer and be responsible for supporting a variety of engineering and planning assignments/projects involving the architectural, civil, industrial, mechanical, environmental, electrical, urban planning, space planning, and systems engineering disciplines.
  • This position will have to coordinate with headquarters project stakeholders/sponsors and align operational requirements documentation with technical requirements documentation, such as configuration and space standards .
  • Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
  • Typical work assignments include: Coordinate with operational and program offices on infrastructure requirements documentation to support the development, planning, prioritization, and execution of US Coast Guard shore facility projects.
  • Review and evaluate shore infrastructure standards, technical orders, and planning guidance to ensure facility documentation is accurate, aligned with regulations, and supports project analysis and decision-making.
  • Analyze and validate project needs requests and planning documents to determine technical feasibility, cost effectiveness, compliance, and alignment with operational and mission requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve infrastructure planning and engineering issues involving USCG real property, construction, renovation, and sustainment projects to support effective project execution and long-term asset management.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, briefings, recommendations, and project updates to management officials, stakeholders, and project teams to support infrastructure planning, policy development, and project approval decisions.
