What You'll Do
- →You will assist the Flight Test Instrumentation/Range Safety Branch Heads, in the review and establishment of the overall Fleet Ballistic Missile and Conventional Prompt Strike missile flight test tracking, termination, and data collection systems.
- →You will analyze current and proposed follow-on missile programs to determine the possible impact upon current or planned flight test safety systems, instrumentation and data collection systems employed during flight tests.
- →You will perform analysis of day-to-day program needs and financial oversight to determine data collection and/or administrative support deficiencies, if any, and to initiate corrective action where necessary.
- →You will prepare basic criteria and establish schedules for missile flight test instrumentation and/or range safety systems.
- →You will assign projects, via official correspondence, to the Eastern Range (ER) and Pacific Range (PR) for the preparation and implementation of alterations and other changes affecting the Range systems.
- →You will monitor, evaluate, and provide technical direction for the planning, design, modification and operation of Range instrumentation and safety systems at the Eastern Range (ER) and Pacific Range (PR).
- →You will provide technical engineering services on a wide variety of unique instrumentation, communication, termination, and data collection systems employed during missile flight tests.
- →You will assist in the planning for and execution of missile flight tests on the respective Ranges.
- →You will be responsible for assessing the readiness of range and program-owned instrumentation and safety systems for Trident-II and CPS flight tests.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
