The incumbent serves as a Nuclear Safety Specialist in the office of the Assistant Manager for Environment, Safety, and Health in the Nevada Field Office (NA-NV), leading interdisciplinary teams performing technical reviews of nuclear safety documentation.
What You'll Do
- →As a General Engineer/Physical Scientist you will: Serves as a recognized technical authority and advisor to senior Site Office and Program managers and safety professionals on matters pertaining to the safety authorization basis or safety of operations in nuclear and/or non-nuclear hazardous facilities.
- →Exercises line management responsibility or directly advises authorizing officials in ensuring that a manageable set of technical safety requirements has been created to control analyzed hazards and that safety management programs are sufficient to comply with regulations and support safe operations.
- →Provides oversight of contractor operations and activities involving operational safety; start-up and restart activities; safety analysis; incident reporting; program evaluation; and performs assessments of the Management and Operating (M&O) Contractor's performance.
- →Represents the agency in hearings, high level meetings, conferences and special working groups with M&O (Management and Operating) contractor executives and subject matter experts, State and Federal regulators, and oversight entities.
Requirements

- ✓Must be able to obtain/maintain a Q level Security Clearance.
- ✓You must be a United States Citizen.

- ✓Must be able to obtain certification in the DOE's Technical Qualification Program (TQP) within 18 months of start date.
