Will serve as General Engineer/Physical Scientist, as a technical and safety program lead responsible for coordinating and overseeing safety basis reviews, compliance assessments, implementation verification activities for assigned facilities in accordance with federal regulations and agency directives.
What You'll Do
- →As a General Engineer Physical Scientist the incumbent: Serves as a recognized technical authority for the Safety Basis Program, managing and coordinating safety analysis activities in support of nuclear facility missions.
- →Leads tactical and strategic planning for facility design and safety, serves as Safety Basis Lead on assigned teams, and acts as the Field Office point of contact for the Nuclear Criticality Safety Program.
- →Serves as a subject matter expert on DOE/NNSA safety requirements, providing authoritative guidance on hazard controls and safety basis implementation.
- →Advises leadership, mentors staff, and supports Facility Representatives.
- →Identifies and resolves complex technical and corporate safety issues, recommending and implementing solutions in coordination with NNSA and M&O contractors Provides line management oversight of M&O contractor performance in safety basis and risk management areas, including configuration control and safety documentation.
- →Conducts assessments, surveillances, and performance reviews; monitors progress against milestones; and collaborates with contractor leadership to address issues.
- →Establishes and evaluates performance objectives through the Performance Evaluation Plan (PEP) and associated metrics.
- →Communicates complex technical information clearly and effectively to all levels of management and external stakeholders.
- →Prepares reports, briefings, and program documentation to support decision-making.
- →Represents the agency in national forums, standards committees, and interagency meetings, presenting technical analyses and recommendations with clarity and authority.
Requirements

- ✓Must be able to obtain/maintain a Q level Security Clearance.
- ✓You must be a United States Citizen.

- ✓Must be able to obtain certification in the DOE's Technical Qualification Program (TQP) within 18 months of start date.
