You will serve as an acoustics engineer in the Acoustic Operations Test & Analysis Branch of the Undersea Systems Acquisition & Assessment Division in the Test & Evaluation Department of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA.
What You'll Do
- →You will provide expert level guidance in the application of underwater acoustics testing, and test and measurement sciences.
- →You will work with senior leadership to ensure appropriate specifications are developed and testing is performed in accordance with the current best practices to support acquisition program development, research and development, and production.
- →You will develop and maintain an understanding of underwater acoustic testing technology and functional testing technology through close contact with research and development laboratories, manufactures, scientists, and academia.
- →You will regularly mentor both engineers and technicians in support of underwater acoustics testing and measurement sciences.
- →You will conduct regular technical training discussions and ensure technical work is performed to the latest industry standards and latest policy or performance specifications.
- →You will proactively engage in the department’s investment program.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
