About the Role
This position is located in the Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation Branch of the Division of Enforcement Litigation. The Branch conducts the litigation in the U.S. Court of Appeals involving the enforcement or review of Board Orders. The incumbent serves as a General Attorney (Labor) working under the supervision of the Branch Chief or a Supervisory Attorney, preparing assigned cases involving enforcement litigation in the U.S. Court of Appeals, and litigation in the U.S. Supreme Court.
What You'll Do
- →As a General Attorney (Labor) (Appellate Litigation Attorney), GS-0905-13, your typical work assignments may include: Analyzing the entire case record and conducting extensive legal research and investigating the facts as well as the laws, regulations and legal precedents.
- →Preparing legal documents including briefs, motions and memoranda describing and analyzing the facts and legal issues involved, explaining the application of legal principles, and justifying the recommendations or conclusions.
- →Orally presenting and discussing the merits of the case including motions and supplemental matters.' Analyzing the facts based on applicable legal principles; identifying rules, principles, or relationships that explain the facts and legal principles; and making correct inferences and drawing accurate conclusions based on those facts and legal principles.
- →Working with a Supervisory Attorney to analyze cases to determine if opposing briefs need to be filed or if a rehearing by the Supreme Court is needed.
