What You'll Do
- →You will work as a Forestry Technician in an organization with responsibility for the protection of forestland used for military training activities.
- →You will independently perform engine operation duties during wildland fire suppression and prescribed burning operations.
- →You will be responsible for operation and maintenance of specialized equipment used to respond to wildland fires and conduct prescribed burns.
- →You will gather information on weather, topography, fuel types, and fire behavior in responding to wildland fires.
- →You will participate in proficiency checks, safety briefings, and after-action-reviews.
- →You will assist in the formulation and revision of prescribed fire plans on an annual basis.
- →You will assist with determining the extent of forest insect infestations and disease outbreaks so appropriate control recommendations can be made and implemented.
Requirements
- ✓No more than 6 semester hours in mathematics is creditable.
- ✓OR B) A combination of experience and post high school education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
- ✓My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent GS-06: A) One full year of graduate education in a field directly related to the position OR B) A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
