You will serve as a Fire Protection Engineer in the Design Department, Planning, Design & Construction Directorate of Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Atlantic. This is a developmental position with a full performance level of GS-13.
What You'll Do
- →You will provide technical leadership, training, and mentoring in the areas of fire protection (including systems design), Facility System Safety, and Life Safety Strategy.
- →You will create hands-on fire protection design drawings and specifications.
- →You will provide technical fire protection engineering expertise for buildings and structures.
- →You will facilitate information sharing, coordination, and distribution of technical data within NAVFAC FEC and Architect-Engineering (A-E) firms.
- →You will develop and maintain project criteria, schedules, and budgets in conformation with project and customer requirements.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
