You will serve as a Maintenance Worker. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.
What You'll Do
- →Electrical: Performs electrical tasks such as replacing light switches and household light fixtures, changing light bulbs, and assisting electrician when pulling wire in conduit and installing electric boxes.
- →Masonry: Performs mostly concrete and plaster touch up around existing historic and other masonry structures.
- →Has knowledge of settling, floating and troweling concrete to the finish required.
- →Must be able to prepare a vail with lathing or wire mesh for a fibered plaster or construction plaster (white top).
- →Has experience in mixing masonry cement, sand and water for laying bricks, cinder blocks and flagstone.
- →Uses hand tools relating to plastering and concrete work such as shovels, hoes, trowels of all types, rakes, bull floats, edgers and hawks.
- →Uses gas and electric cement mixers.
- →Engineering Equipment Operation: Working largely without direct supervision, operates and performs minor maintenance on a variety of vehicles such as ten-wheel dump truck, front end loader, bulldozer, hot oil distributor, road brooms, street sweepers, asphalt lay down machine, etc.
- →Operates equipment in confined areas.
- →Other Responsibilities: May perform other lower graded duties for 20% or less of the time in performing functions such as painting, plumbing, welding; trails and grounds work; and asphalt work and road maintenance by repairing pavement surfaces, i.e., chuck holes, edge raveling, ruts, bleeding, grade depressions, and makes utility cuts, roads and sign installation.
- →May operate cars and trucks and other equipment such as a Bobcat loader with attachments, front-end loaders, graders and dump trucks.

- ✓You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
- ✓As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period, during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated.
