About the Role

This position is in the International Trade Administration, Industry and Analysis. The Executive Director for Manufacturing is responsible for managing operations and resources for programs that promote U.S. exports and advance and protect U.S. commercial interests in specified sectors. The incumbent reports to the Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) for Manufacturing.

What You'll Do

  • Works with the DAS, provides strategic direction and communication of strategy and priorities as well as the organization's vision, mission and goals to subordinate staff.
  • As appropriate, the Executive Director serves as Acting DAS Manufacturing in his/her absence.
  • Oversees formulation of resource requests and manages a process to continually align resources based on opportunities and needs.
  • Ensures adherence to ITA and Industry and Analysis' internal controls, including quality control standards for all work products coming out of Manufacturing.
  • Conducts outreach and builds coalitions with other agencies, colleagues, business and industry associations, and legislative affairs contacts.
  • Routinely participates in interagency meetings and ensures that I&A perspectives are represented in the development and implementation of trade and economic security policies.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national.

  • An initial Senior Executive Service (SES) career appointee is subject to a one-year probationary period.
