About the Role

You will serve as an Electronics Engineer in the Tactical Electronic Warfare, Code 576200 of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY.

What You'll Do

  • You will provide technical expertise and visionary guidance to support the development, improvement and operation of the Central Target Simulator (CTS) hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) facility to meet requirements.
  • You will use engineering skill, along with experience in the laboratory based HWIL simulation environment to ensure the CTS Facility produces quality simulation results.
  • You will be responsible for the maintenance of facility subsystems e.g. three axis flight motion simulator, data acquisition systems, radio frequency (RF) scene generator, coherent target generator, countermeasures equipment and calibration systems.
  • You will develop upgrade plans that include recommendations, proposals, justifications, and specifications for improvement projects and present the proposals to management orally and in writing.
  • You will prepare statements of work, specifications, and related documentation necessary for the procurement of facility maintenance, repair, equipment and upgrades.
  • You will participate in pre-test planning meetings, review test plans, assist in developing integration plans for customer provided equipment, operate equipment, during testing, and monitor testing for quality assurance.

Requirements

  • Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
  • Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
  • OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

  • OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
  • Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
  • In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S.
  • Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (https://www.ed.gov/).
  • Therefore, provide only the attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S.
