What You'll Do
- →The Director, Office of Public Health Data, Surveillance, and Technology (OPHDST), provides executive leadership and strategic direction for CDC's public health data, surveillance, epidemiology, informatics, and data modernization activities.
- →The incumbent oversees the planning, management, and evaluation of complex national programs and initiatives that advance public health science, strengthen surveillance systems, improve data quality and interoperability, and support evidence-based public health decision-making.
- →The Director collaborates with senior CDC leadership to establish organizational priorities, guide resource investments, and develop long-range strategies that enhance the agency's public health impact and scientific excellence.
- →The Director serves as a principal advisor and spokesperson on public health data and surveillance matters, fostering partnerships across federal, state, tribal, local, territorial, academic, and international organizations.
- →The position provides leadership for CDC's Public Health Data Modernization Initiative, promotes innovation in research and informatics, ensures the highest standards of scientific integrity and data governance, and represents the agency on issues of national significance.
- →The incumbent also leads a large, multidisciplinary organization, overseeing workforce development, operational performance, and collaborative efforts that improve public health outcomes and strengthen the nation's public health infrastructure.
