About the Role
This Senior Executive Service (SES) position is in the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention, Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics, Existing Chemical Risk Management Division. About OCSPP: https://www.epa.gov/aboutepa/about-office-chemical-safety-and-pollution-prevention This is an office-centered position--you must physically report to one of the duty stations stated in this announcement on a regular basis (location TBD after candidate selected).
What You'll Do
- →The Existing Chemical Risk Management Division is responsible for addressing several mandates for "existing" chemicals (those already in commerce and on the Inventory) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), while continuing to address harmful "legacy" chemicals that remain in the environment.
- →This includes the Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB) provisions of TSCA, the national Asbestos laws, the Residential Lead-Based Paint Hazard Reduction Act, and the new Formaldehyde Standards for Composite Wood Products Act.
- →Specific duties of this position may include, but are not limited to: Serving as the principal advisor to the Director and Deputy Directors of the Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics for program areas that fall under the purview of the Division.
- →Developing and implementing long- and short- range plans, budgets, grants and contracts, and progress and performance evaluations of the Division's programs.
- →Representing the Division in agency conferences, meetings, seminars, and committees that pertain to assigned program areas.
- →Overseeing the development, assessment, and improvement of management control systems in order to safeguard programs and achieve results while adhering to the Federal Managers Financial Integrity Act.
- →Ensuring that procurements, contracts, grants, and assistance are managed in accordance with agency and office policies, regulatory requirements, and budgetary constraints.
- →Performing the full range of supervisory human resources functions for the Division and subordinate employees.
Requirements
- ✓You must be a U.S.
- ✓If you are selected, you must complete a 1-year SES probationary period, if not previously completed.
- ✓The Ethics in Government Act, P.L. 95-521, requires the applicant selected for this position to submit a financial disclosure statement, OGE-278, prior to assuming the SES position, annually, and upon termination of employment.
- ✓REAL ID requirements became effective on 05/07/25.
