What You'll Do
- →The Deputy Director, William J.
- →Hughes Technical Center for Advanced Aerospace (WJHTC), is responsible for leading subordinate organizational components and coordinating activities for the Center's ongoing applied research, development, testing, evaluation, operational, and support functions.
- →Under the Deputy Director's oversight, the WJHTC staff conducts technical and operational testing, applied research, and evaluates procedures, facilities, and equipment.
- →The Deputy Director oversees approximately 400 personnel, including 6 senior managers, and, along with the Director, manages a budget of approximately $510 million.
- →Principal Responsibilities Determines facility goals and plans and develops operating guidelines; communicates and implements agency policies and priorities; determines resource needs and allocation of resources and accounts for their effective use.
- →Ensures that controls and review processes are sufficient to facilitate the coordinated achievement of program goals and objectives.
- →Implements and oversees corrective measures relating to the performance of programs and projects and the provision of various services; negotiates with FAA, Department of Transportation, other governmental agencies, and private industry representatives on research, development, test activities, and laboratory capabilities.
- →Develops and maintains technology partnerships with and between industry, academia, and other government agencies, and supports such partnerships by liaising between external stakeholders of the Administration.
- →Ensures that modernization policies and operations are in support of continually improving levels of service to customers.
- →Establishes and refines modernization objectives to support short and long-term FAA goals, objectives, and plans.
- →Continually interacts, communicates, and collaborates with senior executives and managers within the FAA and DOT; senior industry officials; academia; other government agencies; and key Congressional representatives to support and stimulate partnerships.
