This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Information Technology (OIT). As an Information Technology Specialist (Data Management), GS-2210-13, you will serve as a Data Engineer responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure for collecting, storing, and transforming raw data into accessible, usable information for data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders across CMS.
What You'll Do
- →Develops and manages robust, scalable data systems including databases, data warehouses, and cloud/on-premises architecture to support CMS operations.
- →Creates extract, transform, load and extract, load, transform (ETL/ELT) workflows to move, transform, and clean data from multiple sources into centralized repositories for analytics.
- →Implements validation and cleansing methods, monitors system performance, and applies optimization techniques for efficient data access and processing.
- →Collaborates with cybersecurity teams to enforce federal security standards, implement access controls, and maintain audit trails and retention policies.
- →Works with data scientists and stakeholders to meet analytical needs, influence technical decisions, and train team members on best practices.
