The mission of the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration's (TIGTA) Office of Investigations is to protect the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) from internal and external threats and corruption that could negatively impact the IRS' ability to administer the nation's tax laws. We detect and deter waste, fraud and abuse in IRS programs and operations and protect the IRS against internal misconduct and corruption as well as external attempts to corrupt or threaten its employees.
What You'll Do
- →Internal selectee will remain in their current duty location.
- →This position is located at Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, Office of Investigations.
- →As a Criminal Investigator (Desk Officer/National Program Manager), you will conduct projects that exceed in scope, complexity, or sensitivity even the normal highly complex and sensitive assignments of the GS-13 criminal investigators.
- →You will serve as a source of authoritative advice on highly technical matters for senior officials and as a source of direction for investigators of lower grade on technical aspects of their cases that are beyond their experience.
- →As a criminal investigator, you will be called upon to spearhead the largest, most complex, and most sensitive criminal and occasionally non-criminal investigations which come under the jurisdiction of the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA).
- →Such activities may involve coordinating the (simultaneous) investigative efforts of several law enforcement agencies (local, state and or federal) in several different areas of the country. - Advise and or assist U.S.
- →Attorneys in the preparation of cases for presentation to Federal Grand Juries, and or make appearances as a witness before Grand Juries, in trial courts or in administrative or Congressional hearings.
