About the Role

This position is located in the Department of Education, Office of Finance and Operations, Office of Acquisition's Management, Contracts and Acquisitions Management Division. The incumbent serves as a recognized expert in the area Federal procurement and acquisition management.

  • As a Contract Specialist, GS-1102-14, you will be responsible for: Provides leadership, direction and coordination to a professional staff responsible for performing contracting functions Serves as a contracting officer and performs a wide range of contract administration actions from award to contract closeout including but not limited to acquisition planning, solicitation, and negotiation.
  • Communicates guidance on administrative policies and procedures to resolve differences and accomplish work of the unit.
  • As a Procurement Analyst, GS-1102-14, you will be responsible for: Developing and implementing policies, procedures, and regulations related to procurement.
  • Analyzing, interpreting, and implementing policies, procedures, and regulations issued by the Office of Federal Procurement Policy, Federal Acquisition Regulation Secretariat, and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) that address specific policy issues.
  • Reviewing, evaluating, and providing specific guidance regarding the acquisition of services and supplies.
  • Serving as an authoritative source of information and interprets Federal and Departmental regulatory requirements governing acquisition activities.

Requirements

  • Department of Education (ED) has interagency agreements (IAAs) with other agencies to ensure efficient delivery of funded programs and activities, and move closer to fulfilling the President's promise to return education to the states.
  • Employees may receive detail assignments to these agencies in support of the IAAs.
  • Condition of Employment: As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you may be required to serve a probationary period or trial period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
