About the Role

What You'll Do
- →You will serve as a Contracting Officer for acquisition of significant systems, hardware, software, services, research and development, or contractual programs.
- →You will perform as the focal point for all contractual actions and phases of the acquisition including initial planning, requirements definition, cost and price analysis, negotiation, award, and administration.
- →You will work with representatives of major customers to explain the need for proactive acquisition strategy development and assists them in developing approaches to particular acquisition objectives.
- →You will plan, organize, and direct activities to ensure objectives are met and contracts are executed in a timely manner per established plans and supervisor’s direction.
- →You will advise program officials of the procurement objectives to be used and assists in the preparation of statements of work.
- →Prepares determinations, findings, and solicitation documents.
- →You will negotiate or serve as chief negotiator of a negotiation team for assigned contracts.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following Basic Education Requirements of the Department of Defense Qualification Standard for Contracting Positions: A bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution authorized to grant baccalaureate degrees.
- ✓NOTE: The education requirements listed above apply only to individuals entering DoD GS-1102 positions on or after October 1, 2000.
- ✓Current civilian personnel in DoD who occupied GS-1102 positions or contracting positions with authority to award or administer contracts above the simplified acquisition threshold in an Executive Department on or before September 30, 2000 are exempt from meeting this requirement.
- ✓Current military members who occupied a similar occupational specialty to the GS (or equivalent)-1102 or before September 30, 2000 are also exempt from meeting this requirement.
