About the Role
the Wasilla, AK NRCS Field Office and is supervised by the State Engineer. This position is responsible for providing basic technical guidance in-the overall planning, design, installation, and maintenance of the engineering phases of soil and water conservation practices.
What You'll Do
- →Makes periodic inspections of engineering work for technical adequacy and adherence to standards and policy to assure work is being carried out according to drawings and specifications, and to identify major problems.
- →Reviews/checks designs, preliminary and final drawings and specifications on civil engineering practices prepared by higher grade engineers.
- →Directs and performs site investigations and feasibility studies; field checks and field construction checks for conservation practice installations.
- →Makes periodic quality reviews of notes, drawings, designs, and installations for compliance with policies, procedures, and/or specifications.
- →Provides technical guidance and training to personnel in all engineering practices, including engineering equipment.
- →Assists Leadership in determining training needs of field personnel engaged in engineering work, making recommendations on training needed to assist the organization of the statewide engineering training program.
- →Directs and performs reviews/checks on designs, preliminary and final drawings and specifications on civil engineering practices prepared by others.
- →Recommends changes in designs, specifications, and schedule to accommodate conditions at the construction site, availability of materials, or to expedite construction.
- →Makes site investigations and field construction checks of approved practice design Installations and coordinates and conducts construction layout and survey required for practice installation.
- →Plans and conducts pre bid site showing, approves construction schedules, monitors work for compliance with plans and specification and contract requirements.
Requirements
- ✓This job does not have an education qualification requirement for the GS-12 grade level.

- ✓Foreign Education: You must submit verification that education completed in a foreign institution, was recognized by an accreditation body accepted by the U.S.

- ✓You must include a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript.
