This position is located in the International Joint Commission, U.S. Section Office in Washington, DC. This office assists the governments of the United States and Canada in preventing and resolving water and environmental disputes along the boundary under the 1909 Boundary Waters Treaty (BWT). This Commission is an independent organization created by BWT, and not a part of the Executive Branch.
What You'll Do
- →Plans, organizes, and implements assigned projects; Aids in developing and providing advice for Commission consideration, fulfilling complex and high-level duties, pursuing the common good of both countries.
- →Resolves issues affecting water management in basins along the US-Canada border, through the formulation of alternative courses of action involving integrated science or engineering in support of the Commissions objectives and emerging initiative.
- →Supports the Commission in developing policy, writing internal and external reports, and conducting scientific and technical analysis.
- →Maintains liaison connections with other water resources or environmental experts, as well as agency and legislative policy leads to assist in preventing or resolving issues.
