About the Role
This position is part of the Hydrocarbons and Geothermal Energy Office, Department of Energy. As an Attorney-Adviser (General), you will serve as Chief Counsel and Chief Legal Adviser to the Project Manager of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve Project Management Office (SPRPMO) in the formulation and execution of legal policies and decisions regarding the management, operation, and construction of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR).

- →Veterans shape the future of energy Serves as the chief legal expert for the SPR and is responsible for performing specialized professional legal work of exceptional difficulty, responsibility, and significance in negotiating, preparing, reviewing, and administering major contractual instruments.
- →Serves as the primary legal expert concerning the acquisition of pipeline rights of way and other necessary real property interests, including, but not limited to, condemnation actions.
- →Serves as the primary legal expert concerning sales, property, or oil truces that affect the SPR and its contractors.
- →Prepares or reviews a wide variety of complex, and often novel, contractual instruments, including operating contracts, cost-plus-fixed-fee and cost-plus-award-fee contracts, architect-engineer contracts, construction contracts, cooperative agreements, grants, fixed-price contracts, and other types of instruments for a wide variety of goods and services.
- →Analyzes the facts of the case; extensively researches or reviews the statutes, case law, and administrative decisions.
- →Provides legal opinion and counsel.
Requirements
- ✓Attorney positions do have an education requirement.
- ✓ALL Candidates must be a graduate of a law school accredited by the American Bar Association with a: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree; For positions with an education requirement, you MUST submit: A copy of your transcripts or equivalent.
- ✓An official transcript will be required if you are selected.; AND You must provide proof of bar or your bar number.
