The incumbent leads branch budget development, coordination, and execution throughout the budget cycle. They serve as a principal advisor on financial matters, working with Institute leadership and scientists to ensure compliance with budget policies and regulations. Their guidance and planning significantly impact programs, staff, and the overall effectiveness and efficiency of NIH's mission. They provide strategic recommendations to support organizational priorities and resource management.
What You'll Do
- →Directs formulation, execution, and presentations of the budget of the Institute.
- →Reviews, analyzes, revises, and recommends approval or modification of budget requests and justifications.
- →Assembles and compiles background and historical data and documentation to develop budget estimates and justifications, and to identify the cost of operations.
- →Prepares and reviews the narrative justifications for major program areas for the various budget submissions.
- →Reviews reports of obligations to assure that funds are being used for the purpose intended.
- →Develops procedures and methods to budget for long-range funding and to meet changing program needs.
- →Serves as the focal point at the Institute for the analysis, interpretation, dissemination, and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
