About the Role
The Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) (USD(C)) is responsible for carrying out the functions assigned by section 135 of Title 10 of the United States Code and ensuring the utmost economy and efficiency in the operations of the Department of Defense through sound business management and effective fiscal planning and control.
What You'll Do
- →Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Formulates and recommends long-range budgetary requirements, based on established policies and concepts, and for each fiscal year, formulates specific policies and basic assumptions directly applicable to the compilation and presentation of budgetary requests for all phases of assigned responsibilities.
- →Prepares complete analyses of all estimates and justifications, including necessary revisions, and initiates Program Budget Decision documents for presentation by the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Comptroller), to the Secretary or Deputy of Defense for decision.
- →Reviews and analyzes requests for apportionments and reprogramming, taking into account the flexibility, character, and changing requirements of the individual programs.
- →Maintains direct contact with responsible officials of the Military Departments and their key budget and comptroller officers in order to assure constant familiarity with the various programs.
