About the Role
This position is located at Department of Housing and Urban Development Office of Inspector General, OIG, Office of Audit. As an Auditor (Performance) (Field Auditor), you will conduct internal and/or external performance reviews and audits of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) programs administered by HUD and external program participants.
What You'll Do
- →The Recent Graduates Program provides individuals, who have recently graduated from a qualifying educational institution or program, with developmental opportunities in the Federal Government.
- →Participants must have obtained a degree, or completed a qualifying career or technical education program within the preceding 2 years.
- →If you served in the military after receiving your degree please see the "Qualifications" section below for more information regarding your eligibility.
- →Upon successful completion of the program, if you are a United States citizen, you may be non competitively converted to a permanent position, or in some circumstances a term appointment in the competitive service.
- →Following the completion of program requirements, selectees may be considered for non-competitive conversion to a career-conditional or term appointment.
- →All conversion requirements will be identified in the Participant Agreement.
- →Program requirements include but are not limited to: Successful completion of at least 1-year of continuous service; Completion of at least 40 hours of interactive training; Demonstration of successful job performance; and Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Recent Graduate may be converted.

- →If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
- →Develop specific audit plans and milestones for completing the review.
- →Plan, direct, control and coordinate all activities during assigned reviews.
- →Articulate and communicate to the team the assignment, project, problem to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues under review, and deadlines and time frames for completion.
- →Perform qualitative and quantitative research in a collaborative environment for the purpose of gathering background and other information to learn the audit subject's environment.
Requirements

- ✓Citizen or U.S.
- ✓Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in auditing or a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting.
- ✓OR Combination of education and experience: At least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge.
- ✓The applicant's background must also include one of the following: A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; OR Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.
