What You'll Do
- →This position is with the Office of Inspector General, AIG for Audits, Inspections, and Evaluations.
- →As an Auditor (Financial) you will be responsible for assisting the Director in achieving the mission and strategic goals of the office in areas associated with planning, performing, oversighting, and reporting on audits, inspections, and evaluations, reviews, and special projects (assignments) performed by the office or contractors.
- →Major duties include: Plans and performs, leads, or provides oversight to complex financial audits, inspections, and evaluations covering DOI and Insular Area Government programs.
- →Determines whether financial information meets established criteria; the entity complies with specific financial compliance requirements; internal controls over financial reporting and safeguarding of assets are adequate; financial information systems comply with applicable requirements.
- →Conducts work in accordance with the Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) or Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) Standards for Inspection and Evaluation.
- →Develops assignment plans, methodologies, and procedures, and assigns tasks to team members.
- →Participates in or develops Office of the Inspector General (OIG) oversight plans to ensure Independent Public Accountants' compliance with contract terms.
- →Reviews IPA audit plans, testing procedures, results, findings, and reports for compliance with GAGAS and the Government Accountability Office (GAO)/CIGIE Financial Audit Manual.
- →Briefs OIG and DOI management on audit results and recommendations.
Requirements
- ✓U.S. citizenship is required.
- ✓Successful completion of a background investigation.
- ✓May be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- ✓Time-in-grade requirement - Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions contained in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
- ✓Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered for the Selective Service.
- ✓Effective January 1, 2010, OPM must authorize any employment offers we make to current or former (within the last 5 years) political Schedule A, Schedule C, or Non-career SES employees in the executive branch.
- ✓The incumbent of this position is subject to post-employment screening for criminal conduct.
- ✓OGE-450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report may be required.
- ✓You must meet the Basic Education Requirement for positions in the Auditor series.
