About the Role

This position is located in the Office of the Bureau Chief, Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (PSHSB), Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Washington, D.C. RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE PAID. THIS VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT MAY BE USED TO FILL ADDITIONAL POSITIONS WITHIN 90 DAYS.

What You'll Do

  • The incumbent serves as a senior Attorney Advisor (Legal Advisor) and provides legal advice and counsel on a broad spectrum of difficult and complex Front Office matters.
  • The incumbent independently handles significant coordination matters and sensitive legal assignments involving inter-bureau requests, inter-agency requests, Bureau Chief talking points and executive communications, Congressional inquiries, FOIA matters, records management issues, briefing papers and decision memoranda, and Bureau- and Commission-level releases.
  • The work requires not only command of communications and administrative law, but also the ability to resolve uncertainty, reconcile conflicting views, and develop legally sound positions in matters of heightened policy sensitivity and organizational significance.

  • Bar Membership Documentation Required Upon Selection.
  • Education-Transcripts Required Upon Selection.
  • US Citizenship.
  • Suitable for employment as determined by a background investigation.
  • Serve a probationary period of one year, if applicable.
  • Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered with Selective Service.
  • Financial disclosure statement may be required upon assuming the position.
  • Current FCC employees must provide SF-50 verifying grade & status SF-50 Documenting One Year of Time in Grade Required.
  • Resume must not exceed two pages and must meet resume format criteria.
