About the Role
The Senior Counsel Expert is responsible for advising Members of the National Labor Relations Board on the adjudication of cases arising under the National Labor Relations Act. The incumbent serves as an expert legal counsel on a Board Member's staff and normally reports through the Deputy Chief Counsel to the Board Member.
What You'll Do
- →As directed, serving as the Board Member's representative, as chairman or member, on special intra-Board and agency committees.
- →Maintaining liaison with the Chairman and/or other members of such committees to keep currently informed on specific issues proposed for consideration and discussions.
- →Preparing "bench memoranda" setting forth the contested issues the Board must decide, the relevant facts, the judge's disposition of those issues, the parties' arguments, and counsel's recommendations as to how he or she believes the Board should resolve each contested issue.
- →Recommending disposition of complicated factual and legal issues based on Board precedent and Board Members' special positions in order to enable the Board to issue decisions and orders efficiently and productively.
