What You'll Do

  • Serves as the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics Directorate, U.S.
  • Army Western Hemisphere Command (USAWHC) and fully participates in the executive management, direction, supervision and development of the plans, programs and policies necessary to manage USAWHC's sustainment and readiness core competencies.
  • Acts in developing and directing policies and planning, integrating and coordinating execution of all functional areas to include the organizational oversight of USAWHC's contracting mission.
  • Responsible for readiness of the force, to include personnel, equipment, equipment serviceability, supplies, logistics automation, maintenance programs, controlling and managing the modified table of organization and equipment (MTOE) documentation processes, new logistics initiatives/concepts, disposal of equipment and sources equipment requirements.
  • Participates in the formative stages of management to encompass logistics objectives and supportability, reliability, and maintainability, as well as cost effectiveness.
  • As USAWHC's leading expert and foremost authority in these areas, incumbent formulates policy, devises basic concepts for sustained high-level mission capable readiness of materiel and equipment at best value and works to improve the overall Army logistic support system.
  • Incumbent generates a unified direction and guidance to affect the coordination of effort of a multiplicity of agencies involved in command logistics support.
  • The Deputy Chief of Staff G-4 logistics programs are supported by and support over 1,170 civilians and 86,857 military personnel.
  • Incumbent oversees more than a billion dollars allocated to the logistics and readiness parts of the command's budget.
  • Work is performed in collaboration with and under the general/administrative direction of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics (General Officer), who provides broadly defined policy guidance and management objectives.

Requirements

  • CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Must be a U.S.

  • Citizenship.
  • A one-year SES probationary period may be required unless previously completed.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment when requested to determine suitability.

  • You must be able to submit and pass designated and/or Random Drug Testing as required.
  • File a Public Financial Disclosure Report OGE-278e within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.
  • Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
  • You must be able to obtain/maintain the appropriate clearance and access level for this position.
  • Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • The incumbent is required to travel on both scheduled and unscheduled aircraft, and other modes as required, under conditions specified under the DoD Joint Travel Regulations.
  • The incumbent is expected to travel on short notice to attend high level meetings to obtain resolution of problems and gather information to assist in the decision-making process.
