About the Role
This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum. The incumbent is responsible, along with other members of the archival staff, for planning, performing and monitoring all archival functions in a variety of media, establishing work priorities, and ensuring that priorities and work assigned to the archival staff are completed in compliance with NARA policies, standards, and procedures.
What You'll Do
- →The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12.
- →If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
- →As an Archivist, you will: Scan and digitize historical records to make them available online.
- →Verify the origin of new records and ensure proper, safe storage.
- →Respond to reference requests and guide researchers through catalogs.
- →Assess record conditions to prevent physical deterioration.
- →Apply legal restrictions and declassification rules to protect records.
Requirements

- ✓The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service.
- ✓One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

- ✓A probationary or trial period may be required.

- ✓Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.

- ✓Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form i-9.
- ✓Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
- ✓Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
- ✓Work is primarily sedentary, with some standing, walking and lifting of boxes up to 40 pounds required.
