About the Role

This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration,The incumbent serves as an Archives Technician in the Military Personnel Records, Military Reference Core 3 of the Federal Records Center Program. The incumbent performs numerous activities involved in the processing of file level reference requests of military personnel records from a variety of customers.

What You'll Do

  • As an Archives Technician, you will: Review incoming reference requests in a variety of formats and input data using an automated customer relations management software tool.
  • Apply understanding of service branches and unique identifiers to populate data with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Communicate with various customers by telephone or email to clarify a request or obtain additional information which may facilitate a response.
  • Facilitate the workflow on each team by distributing records, retrieving completed work and routing records and mail to the appropriate business area.
  • Prepare standard forms to correct service record entries.
  • A high degree of accuracy is required.

  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form i-9.
  • Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
  • Must be physically able to push large carts.
  • Some walking, bending and lifting is required.
