About the Role
The Primary Care-Mental Health Integration (PC-MHI) APN is a member of a interdisciplinary team that provides functional assessments, triage, brief intervention, education & consultative services regarding a wide range of mental health and behavioral medicine concerns, on referral from PACT providers. The PC-MHI APN provides brief, time-limited psychopharmacologic/psychotherapeutic interventions to patients in Primary Care, Women's Clinic, & other medical settings
What You'll Do
- →Elko Chamber of Commerce, Join the VA Major Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Uses advanced clinical judgment to independently provide evidence-based treatment to Veterans with acute or chronic mental illness including use of psychotropic medications, psychotherapy, and other modalities.
- →Provides patient and family education on medical/MH conditions, preventive measures, and prescribed treatments.
- →Demonstrates leadership and engages in collaboration with other MH and specialty care professionals while involving Veterans and their families (as appropriate), in treatment plan development.
- →Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- →Counsels and treats patients with substance use disorders.
- →Orders and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies.
- →Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓English Language Proficiency.
- ✓In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
