About the Role
You will serve as an Accountant in the Special Assistant for Resource Management Directorate, Commander, Naval Information Forces (COMNAVIFOR).
What You'll Do
- →You will assist in the execution of an accounting program which includes all matters relating to reports, statistics, accounting, financial systems and disbursing.
- →You will utilize accounting systems employed by COMNAVIFOR to provide accounting data for centrally controlled funds, as well as funds issued to all Domain Activities You will evaluate the effectiveness of DON BPS, internal controls and NAVIFOR administrative processes, the economy and efficiency of operations, and prevent and detect fraud and abuse in such systems.
- →You will use accounting, budget execution and financial management procedures, practices, policies, laws and regulations in conducting performance financial assessments.
- →You will prepare financial reports/briefs in support of NAVIFOR and its subordinate commands resources.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: A.
- ✓Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting.
- ✓The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
- ✓(The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard.
- ✓Similarly, "accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "accountant and/or auditor.") OR B.
- ✓Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.
- ✓The applicant's background must also include one of the following: Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality.
