About the Role
About the Position: This is a permanent Accountant (Staff) position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District Resource Management Office. This position is located in Concord, MA.Position(s) will be filled at the GS-05, GS-07, GS-09, GS-11 or GS-12 grade level.
What You'll Do
- →Duties described reflect the full performance GS-12 level.
- →Duties will be performed in a developmental capacity under close supervision.
- →Provide technical guidance and oversight for organizational accounting functions, including revolving funds, leave accounts, and construction in progress.
- →Maintain and manage accounting records within the designated financial management system.
- →Analyze and interpret accounting data from various organizational units to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- →Interpret and apply federal accounting laws, regulations, and policies to ensure compliance.
- →Advise program managers on financial matters and provide recommendations based on professional accounting principles.
- →Develop and implement control procedures to ensure the proper use of appropriated funds and prevent financial mismanagement.
- →Recommend and establish new policies and procedures to prevent waste, fraud, and abuse of resources.
- →Provide technical leadership, training, and mentorship to junior accounting staff and non-financial professionals.
- →Evaluate business practices to identify and recommend process improvements for increased efficiency.
- →Serve as a primary contact for internal and external audits, providing requested documentation and ensuring the implementation of corrective actions.
