About the Role
The Smithsonian Institution is the world's largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in the Office of Finance and Accounting (OF&A) in General Accounting and Reporting (GAR).
What You'll Do
- →In this position, you will be responsible for the following: Prepares, analyzes, interprets, and presents accounting data and resolves daily accounting issues.
- →Prepares assigned portions of financial statements and related footnotes for annual reporting, ensuring they tie to the financial statements; validates financial data for net asset reports, various U.S. federal reports, contributions, and inter-unit transactions.
- →Advises management on financial and managerial accounting methods and procedures related to purchases, receivables, returns, merchandise transfers, sales, refunds, income and expense deferrals, grants, contributions, allotments, capital expenditures, obligations, and budgetary and proprietary liabilities.
- →Provides professional accounting advice, support, development, and training to staff on office programs, systems, functions, and structures, as well as the effective use of accounting and related financial management policies, procedures, and systems.
