About the Role
You will serve as an ACCOUNTANT in the Comptroller Directorate, Material Accountability Department of NAVSUP WEAPON SYSTEMS SUPPORT.
What You'll Do
- →You will serve as an expert on the Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (NERP) accounting system and provide technical guidance on the financial, procurement, and inventory systems used by the department.
- →You will perform studies and analysis related to financial requirements, contracting procedures, and inventory management practices.
- →You will apply accounting principles, theories, concepts and practices in new ways to solve problems where no clear precedent exists.
- →You will coordinate with Accountants and Financial Management Analysts in the Material Accountability Department to discuss problems and resolutions for system issues.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a degree in accounting, or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting.
- ✓The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
- ✓(The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard.
- ✓Similarly, "accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "accountant and/or auditor."). or A combination of education and experience, with at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.
- ✓The applicant's background must also include one of the following: 1) Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality.
