About the Role

This position serves as Supply Technician (Medical) for the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) areas of Supply Chain Management Service within the VA Health Care System. As a Supply Technician, you will provide wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and material including, but not limited to, sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets and equipment.

What You'll Do

  • Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Provides wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations and other hospital facilities with supplies and material including, but not limited to, sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instruments sets, and equipment.
  • Maintains stock and primary and secondary inventory locations for all clinical and administrative services.
  • Pulls stock and material, replenishes stock inventory, interacts with customers and maintains records on stock levels.
  • Distributes items according to established or ad hoc requirements in a computerized inventory management system.
  • Completes specialty cart preparation and stocking.
  • Informs clinic and ward personnel on new or changed items and supplies, current medical resources and shelf life.
  • Communicates with lead or supervisor on any concerns related to supplies, equipment and procedures.
  • Provides information to customers or external stakeholders regarding medical supplies.
  • Escalates complex or unresolvable issues to the supervisor or more senior staff.
  • Works with customers to resolve supply management issues including receiving requests, clarifying user requirements, explaining delays, expediting deliveries and resolving problems.
  • Works with clinical and administrative personnel regarding administrative and medical supplies.
  • Ensures data integrity of the inventory management system.
  • Utilizes computerized systems including bar-coding and automated inventory systems for the delivery and inventory control of supplies.
  • Utilizes an automated inventory system to monitor issues and receipts in support of stock replenishment processes.
