About the Role

This position is for the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) areas of the Logistics service in a Veteran Affairs Health Care System (VA HCS) and supported catchment area. The primary purpose of the position is to ensure that supplies and material are distributed to all areas serviced by Logistics.

What You'll Do

  • Duties include but are not limited to:Supervision Supervises a team of GS-2005 employees in the distribution area of Logistics.
  • Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
  • Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
  • Develops and executes staff training.
  • Evaluates work performance of subordinates.
  • Gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
  • Supply Distribution Works through subordinate staff, directs and oversees management and distribution of all supplies and material in the VA Health Care System and supported catchment area with the following responsibilities: Maintaining stock at primary and secondary inventory locations for all clinical and administrative services.
  • Monitoring expiration dates, rotating stock to limit outdates and removing items from use as required by outdates.
  • Checking inventory for stock identified for recalled items and hazard alerts; assisting customers complete work orders for needed equipment.
  • Performing daily inventory of primary and secondary inventory points using bar coding equipment on a predetermined schedule that will allow for timely replenishment orders.
  • Resolving differences between records and physical count of stock.
  • Distributing items according to established or ad hoc requirements using the generic inventory package (GIP).
  • Filling requests for items based on daily schedules of needs or on an emergent basis as appropriate.
  • Delivering supplies in timely and accurate manner, ensuring that supplies and material delivered are in sterile and operational condition.
