This position is in the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, Probation and Pretrial Services Office, Training and Safety Division. The Training and Safety Division provides national training programs and sets professional requirements for U.S. probation and pretrial services officers. This position is designated as a secondary law enforcement position and is eligible for law enforcement officer (LEO) retirement coverage. Non-LEOs are eligible to apply for this position.

- →Courts (AO), Department of Program Services, Probation and Pretrial Services Office, Training and Safety Division is seeking a highly-organized and self-motivated Supervisory Probation Administrator (Training & Skills Branch Chief) to manage and lead the Training & Skills Branch (TSB).
- →This position reports to the Training and Safety Division Chief.
- →The Supervisory Probation Administrator (Training & Skills Branch Chief) position is designated as a secondary law enforcement position responsible for providing training for new federal probation and pretrial services officers at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center's Federal Probation and Pretrial Academy in Charleston, S.C.
- →This position works in collaboration with other division and branch chiefs to advance projects and activities in support of the Probation and Pretrial Services Office's mission.
- →Specialized duties include, but are not limited to: Managing the TSB's daily operations and administrative activities, including managing short- and long-term goals and ensuring the integration of branch initiatives with broader Probation and Pretrial Services Office objectives.
- →Overseeing and managing the Initial Probation and Pretrial Training program.
- →Overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of the the Federal Probation and Pretrial Academy training and skills curricula.
- →Supporting the Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation for the Federal Probation and Pretrial Academy and its associated programs.
- →Developing and implementing research-based training and skills programs.
- →Serving as a liaison between the Probation and Pretrial Services Office and the Federal Probation and Pretrial Academy and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, ensuring necessary training information is submitted in a timely manner.
- →Serving as a subject matter expert and providing oversight for the Federal Probation and Pretrial Academy training and skills policies and procedures.
- →Providing fiscal oversight for TSB expenditures, including the development, justification, and execution of the branch's budget.
- →Generalized duties include, but are not limited to: Managing all aspects of staff supervision, including assigning and reviewing work, and completing a full range of personnel actions, such as tracking time and attendance, training and professional development, conducting performance appraisals, and fostering a collaborative team environment.

- ✓All new AO employees will be required to complete a FBI fingerprint-based national criminal database and records check and pass a public trust suitability check.
- ✓All new AO employees must identify a financial institution for direct deposit of pay before appointment.
- ✓You will be required to serve a trial period if selected for a first-time appointment to the Federal government, transferring from another Federal agency, or serving as a first-time supervisor.
- ✓Failure to successfully complete the trial period may result in termination of employment.
- ✓If appointed to a temporary position, management may have the discretion of converting the position to permanent depending upon funding and staffing allocation.
- ✓Relocation expenses may be provided, but only if authorized by the Director of the AO.
- ✓The basic qualifications can be met in one of three ways: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- ✓Combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
- ✓Four years of appropriate experience demonstrating the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
