About the Role
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY NUCLEAR ENGINEER in the SYSTEMS ENGINEER (ROD CONTROL) BR 23307 of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
What You'll Do
- →You will assign work to subordinate personnel, ensure timely completion and quality or work.
- →You will resolve technical, engineering and design problems beyond the capacity of the Branch personnel and make recommendations for improvements.
- →You will resolve technical, engineering and design problems beyond the capacity of the Branch personnel and make recommendations for improvements.
- →You will schedule the work of the branch in accordance with project schedules.
- →You will manage projects such as overhaul, troubleshooting, testing and grooming involved with electrical nuclear work packages on a complete ship basis.
- →You will serve as NNSY's specialist in nuclear grooming in the area of electrical instrumentation and control systems and related components.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
