The Supervisory Medical Instrument Technician (EKG)- position is located at the John Cochran Division, VA St. Louis Health Care System, St. Louis, MO. The Supervisory Medical Instrument Technician (MIT) is a skilled technician who functions as a supervisor of Acute Inpatient Telemetry & ECG MITs and assumes responsibility for the operational function of the service.
What You'll Do
- →The Supervisory Medical Instrument Technician (EKG)- assumes full administrative and professional responsibility for planning and directing the work of subordinate technicians.
- →As the supervisor, the incumbent will manage staff to include scheduling staff, hiring procedures, evaluations, advancement, promotion, and disciplinary action as necessary responsible for adhering to all department, service, hospital, agency and national regulations and policies.
- →The incumbent will have knowledge of regulatory requirements.
- →The incumbent will maintain clinical expertise in all the components of telemetry monitoring and ECG.
- →Major duties and responsibilities of the position: Provide leadership and direction to MIT staff.
- →Accountable for adhering to established policies, standards of care and standards of practice.
- →Demonstrate leadership in improving patient care.
- →Perform administration management, supervision and evaluation of both patient care and Telemetry MIT personnel in the unit.
- →Provide an environment that encourages employees to perform to their full individual potential.
- →Maintain advanced knowledge of complex examination procedures and techniques to provide optimal images for evaluation and treatment by providers.
- →Maintain advanced knowledge of telemetry monitoring equipment, the transmitter, the 12-lead ECG machine and the supplies used for ECG/ Telemetry Monitoring and Central station.
- →Set up, calibrate, and trouble shoot equipment in ECG and Telemetry central stations and related equipment.
- →Establish and follow the standard operating procedures or traditional practice for telemetry monitoring and ECG.
- →Ensure all staff remain current and accurate knowledge of the Medical Center's Infection Prevention Policies and Procedures.
